Halloween 2012

On October 26th our 1A CEL students decided to anticipate and celebrate the Halloween . This event is a party that has been celebrated everywhere since 2000 years ago in Canada, the USA, England and in some other English speaking countries on October 31st.  Hundred of years ago people thought that bad spirits, like ghosts, came in the winter  season. They wanted the bad spirits to go away and so they used to take a pumpkin, a big autumn vegetable, cut a face in the side and put a light inside. This is called "Jack o´Lantern", with their bright eyes and mouths. They are used  outside doors, in front of the houses, everywhere. Then the children go to the houses to offer "Trick or Treating". With a treat, children get something  nice such as fruit, candies, chocolates, chocolate cakes. With a trick,  something bad, children throw an egg or some flour at the house.

At  our  CEL school, the students loved preparing the party and interacted quite well. They decorated their classroom in two colors, orange and black. They drew pictures of witches , bats, ghosts and pumpkins. From the text students collected and prepared some sentences about..They also dressed themselves in black and painted their faces, creating beautiful masks.Besides they had a chocolate cake, some soft drinks. They also heard music and danced.

The school´s principal , the Spanish and French teachers and students were also invited. The Spanish teacher told the students about how this event is celebrated in Spain, Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries as well.
